CAPTURING THE MOMENT
“Bronco Ballet” expresses the dance between an unbroken Bronc’ and a cowboy Hell-bent on correcting that situation. This was a particularly challenging piece to do. The power and movement, juxtaposed to the shapeless, abstract depiction of dust and atmosphere required a significant amount of invention, detail and time.

SIT HIGH AND HOLD A TIGHT ROPE
“Wrangled” represents the pinnacle moment when cowboy, horse and steer face-off with one another. This is a celebration of draftsmanship. Using only one color, I am challenged to depict the many textures that make-up this composition: worn leather, horse hair, wool and the intangible atmosphere of dust and a stormy sky

THE LANGUAGE OF DRAWING
By taking away the element of color, an artist is forced to rely upon their skillful use of design, composition and lighting to tell the story.
